Abstract

Horse, cattle, sheep blood and serum agar media were compared in promoting growth and multiplication of Rhabditis bovis. Horse serum agar was noted to be superior to all the other culture media used. Furthermore, horse blood agar and bovine blood agar were observed to be better than the remaining culture media. While sheep serum agar proved to be better than sheep blood agar and bovine serum agar only. It is thus recommended that horse serum agar be used instead of sheep serum agar or sheep blood agar when culturing Rhabditis bovis for experimental infections and taxonomical studies
