In the tropics the environment plays an important part in Veterinary practices, and any change in it always causes repercussions in the preventive measures and in the methods of animal husbandry. In this connection the conservation of habitat in one hand, and its constant improvement, on the other, is of particular interest to all Veterinarians. In the previous issue (Vol. I No. 2) we have touched these problems by discussing the climate of Tanzania and erosion in the Uluguru Mountains, and in the current issue is raised the all-important role played by trees in the health and nutrition of animals. A trees planting campaign could be a useful thought. The use of plants, other than trees, is also mentioned in the ideas corner.
