In the Editorial of Volume 8 we had specified the areas covered by the TANZANIA VETERINARY BULLETIN and stated that the Journal is meant to cover areas which are of interest to all Veterinarians, Animal Scientists and farmers. We stated also that we expected more papers than ever before to be submitted for publication in Volume 9 of the BULLETIN. The response has been good. In this volume there are 15 full papers, one short communication and tour Letters to the Editor. This is a big improvement compared to Volume 8 which had only 13 full papers. We have already received a number of very interesting papers tor Volume 10 and we expect you will be submitting more papers for Volume 10 in due course. What we expected and are lacking in Volume 9 are clinical cases reports from the Field. For instance, we had expected to be awakened from our slumber on the hitherto long gone Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) which seems to be re-emerging. Some-one must know something about Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE). How about Biotechnology? The other areas whose papers are lacking are reports on animal production. How are we faring with regard to animal productivity, how come chicken meat ls still more expensive than beef? Has the Zebu improyed in terms of productivity. There are many areas in which we in Tanzania and the third world are ignorant about. Therefore I appeal to you to share your knowledge with others by submitting articles to the BULLETIN. The BULLETIN will soon start being cited in the Veterinary Bulletin and Veterinary Index like before. Therefore you will receive requests for reprint or your papers in future. Dust up your files and submit your manuscripts before someone else publishes similar material and renders your data stale.. Lastly, we would like to thank DANIDA for financing the publication and Dr. B. M. Mutayoba and Dr. R.R. Kazwala for computer type - setting this Volume.
