Tanzania Veterinary Bulletin, One Year Annivarsary

Abstract

With the current issue, the Tanzanian Veterinary Bulletin became one year old. The first year was undoubtedly difficult but the mere fact that we survived allows us to look into the future with hope. The wishes and resolutions heard at its birthday still sound fresh. But we should remember that to survive is not enough and that the Bulletin will not prosper neither will reach the desirable level until it becomes a focus of all Tanzanian Research in the Veterinary and related Sciences, and unless this research will contribute considerably to the knowledge of the tropics. To this purpose the Veterinary Bulletin runs an advisory service for all prospective authors, and researches, and has opened its pages also to writers from other countries. The Tanzania Veterinary Bulletin (The Tropical Veterinarian) is currently read in Africa, Asia, Europe and America, but our list of subscribers is still limited. An important factor in the distribution of any journal is obviously a constant improvement in the quality of articles and concentration on relevant topics. This requires an effort and repeated trials.

My only wish today is that the Bulletin will improve.
