Abstract

Irrespective or the causal agent, the control or any disease requires a number of basic elements. There are: Knowledge of the epidemiology of the disease, provision of adequate diagnostic facilities, a high standard of hygiene and husbandry, Effective vaccines, results of research must be publicized preferably through an extension officer who provides the link between the farmer and the diagnostic laboratory and state veterinary service and voluntary/state control scheme/legislations. It may not be possible to satisfy all these criteria and the disease control program. Example, There are many poultry diseases against which vaccines are available. However, vaccine will not give protection if used incorrectly, stored wrongly or without consideration of epidemiology of the disease
