Thelazia Rhodesii Infection in Dairy Cattle in Central Tanzania

Abstract

A study on the monthly prevalence Thelazia rhodesii  infection among dairy cattle was carried out at the Livestock Training Institute dairy farm, Mpwapwa. The bovine eye worm was observed in 3.1% of the examined cattle during the cool and dry months of the   year whereas an incidence of 46.0% was observed during the warm and humid months. Monthly incidence was higher in cattle of four to 12 months of age whereas the lowest incidence was in cattle under three month of age. The eye worm was observed throughout the year in cattle over 36 months of age
