Abstract

Many conditions have been associated with diarrhoea in adult cattle of two years and above in many countries of the world. These include rinderpest, salmonellosis, Johnes disease, paramphystomiosis, schistosomiosis, winter dysentery, ostertagiosis, babesiosis, malignant catarrhal fever, poisonings (arsenic, lead, castor seed, sulphur, fodder beet, bracken fern, ragwort and hexachloroethane), chronic copper deficiency, molybdenosis, renal amyloidosis, congestive heart failure, abomasal displacement and chronic traumatic reticulitis. This paper discusses differential diagnosis of the syndrome on the basis of epidemiological, clinical and laboratory features with expectations of improving clinical acumen of the target group that is, practicing Veterinary Surgeons.
